Version, database type and size, devices, custom settings and where the new server will be.

The new server is set up and a test copy of your data is moved and checked.

At a quiet time, the final data is moved and devices and DNS are pointed to the new server.

Everything is tested with you, and the old server is kept until you are happy.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my position history?
No. Users, devices, settings and history are moved with the database. If the history is very large, we can also clean up very old positions first to speed up the move.
How long will tracking be down?
Usually only a short time during the final switch. Devices reconnect as soon as the domain or IP points to the new server.
Do my devices need to be reconfigured?
Not if they connect using your domain name. If they use the old server's IP address, we plan the change with you so no data is missed.
Can you upgrade a very old Traccar version?
Yes. We upgrade in safe steps with a backup before each one, and test on a copy first.
Can you move my platform to Traccar from another system?
Often, yes. Devices, users and geofences can usually be moved to a new Traccar platform. We review your current system first and tell you what can be transferred.
